How do I find a MAC address?

Please follow the instruction below to find the MAC address of your game console.

PlayStation 2

To find the MAC address of your Sony PlayStation 2 you will need the Network Adaptor connected to the PS2 and you will need the disc that came with the Network Adaptor. Then follow these steps:

  1. Power up the PlayStation 2 and load the Network Adaptor Startup Disc.
  2. Once it has loaded, select "ISP Setup" and press X on your controller.
  3. The ISP Setup will begin to load, and you will be presented with a license agreement. Select Agree and press X to continue.
  4. For connection type, choose "Local Area Network (LAN)" and press X to continue.
  5. Select "Automatic Configuration" and press X to continue.
  6. At the connection test screen, select "Advanced" and press X to continue.
  7. At the "Advanced Broadband Settings" screen, make sure "Automatic" is selected. While you are at this screen, make note of the MAC address at the bottom.

Some of the PS2 games also have the ability to list your MAC address, but the above steps are the IT Help Desk's preferred way of finding the MAC.

PlayStation 3

  1. In the XMB home menu, go to Settings > System Settings and press the X button.
  2. Scroll until you see [System Information] and press the X button. You will find the MAC address of the system in this menu.

Playstation 4

In the XMB home menu, go to Settings > Network > View Connection Status and press the X button. There will be a Wired and Wireless MAC address.

NOTE: On the Playstation 4, there are 2 MAC addresses. Feel free to register both so you can have your Playstation 4 on a wired connection or wireless connection.

Wii

  1. To find your Wii's MAC address, select the Wii button on the home menu. Then select the Wii Settings option.
  2. Next click the Internet button
  3. Now choose Console Information
  4. Now you will see your MAC address.

Wii-U

  1. From the Wii Channel menu, select Wii Settings (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with Wii on it).
  2. Select Internet, then Console Settings. The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line.

Nintendo 3DS

  1. From the Nintendo 3DS HOME menu, highlight and select the System Settings icon.
  2. Select Internet Settings.
  3. Tap Other Information
  4. Tap Confirm MAC Address, Your system's MAC Address will be displayed on the screen.

Chromecast

  1. Open up your Chromecast setup application and have it discover and connect to your Chromecast.  
  2. Follow the normal set up process.  Stop at the screen that asks you to join a network.
  3. The device's MAC address is located near the bottom of the window.
