What is the Process for Requesting IT-Funded Software?

Michigan Tech IT strives to provide our students, faculty, and staff with the support and services they need. Software is an important part of these services, and making decisions about which software to fund can be challenging and have varying levels of impact. The following process was developed with the help of the IT Governance Group to determine the best use of future software funding. Pending availability, IT will annually identify a budget for new software and enact this process.
If you are interested in Michigan Tech IT funding a software package, please make a request by completing an application.
Submitting an Application:
Please submit an application by November 15: Application Form
Existing software review and removal:
  • IT will identify software champion(s) for each piece of IT funded software.
  • Being a software champion is voluntary.
  • Champions will be asked to fill out a preliminary statement of how the software is being used for Academic Year 2018.
  • The IT Software Group will classify software for periodic review (three to five years)
