How do I recover my password using my secret questions?

Please note: You must have already set up your secret questions to use this feature.

  1. Browse to mylogin.mtu.edu.
  2. Enter your username in the User ID field.
  3. Click Forgot password? (Security Questions).
  4. Enter the answer to each of the secret questions that appear.
    • You can click Shuffle Questions to pick different secret questions.
    • If you are getting a request to enter your authorization code, you must have already set up your secret questions in order to use this recovery feature.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Review the password rules:
    • Length: Minimum 8
    • Length: Maximum 128
    • Letters: Minimum 2
    • Requires mixed case: Yes
    • Letters Minimum upper case: 1
    • Letters Minimum lower case: 1
    • Numbers: Minimum 1
    • User name Disallow contain: Yes
    • User name Disallow reverse or circular shift: Yes
    • Identity User ID Disallow contain: Yes
    • User ID Disallow reverse or circular shift: Yes
  7. Create and confirm your new password.
    • If your password was accepted, you will see “You have successfully reset the password for the selected accounts/groups.” Click OK.
    • If your password was not accepted, please see the box and try resetting your password again, making the required changes.
