By default, Google Calendar will pop-up a notification and steal your mouse and keyboard focus.  You can switch notifications so this does not happen.

  1. In Google Calendar click the Gear and choose Settings.
  2. Locate the Notifications setting, and check the box for "Use browser notifications..."

  3. Click Save in the upper corner to save this change.
  4. You may be prompted to allow calendar notifications, click Allow

  5. Calendar notifications will now pop-up near your Windows Tool bar by the clock.

  6. By default this will also play a sound, you can go back and click the Gear and choose Settings, under notifications, un-click "Play Sound" and save your changes.
