  1. Change your password at mylogin.mtu.edu. You may want to do this from a computer you know is secure, so that if your machine itself is infected, your password will not become compromised.
  2. Let us know; Call (906) 487-1111 or email it-help@mtu.edu from an account you believe is not compromised.
  3. Run a virus and malware scan – Even if you believe that only your email was compromised it never hurts to run a virus and malware scan to ensure that your machine is clear of infections.
  4. Log into your gmail and click Details at the bottom of the page. Select "Sign out all other web sessions"  https://support.google.com/mail/answer/45938?hl=en
  5. Follow along with the Google Security Checklist, but skip step 1, as you already changed your password at mylogin.mtu.edu:  https://support.google.com/mail/checklist/2986618?hl=en
Information Technology will sometimes change passwords or lock accounts that have been sending spam to prevent access to the account from the attackers. If this is the case, please give us a call at (906) 487-1111 and we can help you regain control of your account.
