How do I sync Gmail with MS Outlook?

  1. Open Outlook.


  2. Choose No when asked, Do you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account?

  3. Check the box to Use Outlook without an email account.

  4. Close Outlook.
  5. Download and install  Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook®.
    • You may need to request assistance from IT to install it with administrative privileges on a university-owned machine.
  6. Run Google Apps Sync.
  7. Sign-in with your full email address,

  8. Click Allow for Google Apps Sync to view and manage your email.


  9. Click Create Profile to create a Google Apps profile in Microsoft Outlook.
    • Leave Import data from existing profile unchecked. Do not use an existing profile

  10. Click Start Microsoft Outlook
  11. Click OK to choose profile, - Google Apps.

  12. Click Show more during Synchronization Status.


    • Google Contacts
    • Google Calendar
    • Google Mail
    • Google Tasks
    • Notes
    • Google Address Book
      • This is the Michigan Tech global address book.
      • It will take approximately 45 minutes or longer to completely sync the Michigan Tech global address book.
